When it comes to finding the perfect industrial pendant light for your home, there are a few factors to consider. The first consideration is the overall style of your home: are you going for a more rustic or modern aesthetic? Once you've decided on that, consider the function of the room in which the light will be installed. Is it primarily intended for task lighting, or do you want it to be more decorative?
After you've considered everything, it's time to start shopping! To assist you, we've compiled a list of our favorite industrial pendant lights that will complement any home's style. There's something on this list for everyone, from sleek and modern designs to more rustic and industrial options.
Options for Commercial Lighting Mounting
What would our world be like if there were no lights? Late-night sports games, evening dinner dates at local restaurants, and cozy nights at home reading on the couch would not exist. We frequently take for granted the powerful impact lighting has on our daily lives, so it is critical that we take a moment to truly understand everything that goes into ensuring we can see where we are going after the sun goes down. There are numerous applications for lighting, ranging from parking lots to warehouses, sports stadiums to restaurants, homes to office buildings - and everything in between - and even more applications for how those lights are mounted. Nothing can be installed unless the proper mounts are used.
We've compiled the information you'll need to select the best mount for your commercial light fixture needs below.
The slip fit mount, also known as the slip fitter mount
Slip fit mounts are the most common type of mounting for parking lot lights, area lights, street lights, and flood lights. These mounts are popular because they allow you to adjust the angle of the light, making it a flexible and versatile option. These mounts slide like a sheath over the pole and can be tightened down with bolts, allowing the mount to be rotated on the pole. The most common slip fit mount size will typically fit a tenon adapter (diameter ranging from 2" to 2 3/8"). The advantage of these mounts is that the electrical wiring for the light is run through the mount rather than externally, which means it is much better protected from the elements and does not require any additional weather proofing.
Direct Arm Mounting or Pole Mounting
The direct arm mount is another type of mount that is designed to be mounted directly on a metal surface, such as a steel light pole. These mounts are typically held together with two bolts, one on top and one on the bottom. These bolts pass through the pole's mount on one side, the pole itself, and into a bracket on the inside of the pole. Some direct arm mount variations allow these mounts to be used with either round or square poles. Similar to slip fit mounts, the electrical wiring is routed internally through the mount for weather protection.
WHAT HEIGHT SHOULD MY PENDANT LIGHTING FIXTURES BE HANGED?
In general, the bottom of your pendant lighting fixtures should be 30 to 36 inches above the surface of your countertop, island, or table.
HOW MUCH SPACE SHOULD BE BETWEEN THE PENDANTS IF I HANG MY PENDANT LIGHTS ABOVE AN ISLAND?
I recommend leaving about 24 inches between fixtures. This should be measured from the pendant's widest point.
WHICH COLOR PENDANT LIGHT SHOULD I GET?
If you're not sure what color pendant light to get, look to the hardware in your home for inspiration. How about the color of your faucets, door handles, and cabinet pulls? Is the finish on your chandeliers gold, silver, black, or oil-rubbed bronze? You can't go wrong by matching your existing fixtures and hardware.
If you are looking for an industrial pendant light that will complement your space, one of the options listed above should be considered. Each option has its own distinct characteristics that will make it an addition to your space. So, take your time when selecting the right light for you and enjoy the new look it gives your room.
